Joseph P. “Buddy” Haley
of Quincy, most recently of Atria Marina Place, died at The Tippet Home in Needham on March 1, 2010. Born in Cambridge, Buddy graduated from Rindge Technical High School in 1939.
He entered the United States Navy and served for 4 years during World War II.
Upon his return home from the service, he worked for Carter’s Ink and later became employed by New England Gas and Electric (currently NSTAR). He remained at New England Gas and Electric for 38 years and retired in 1987.
In his younger years, Buddy played the Banjo with the Dipsy Doodlers Ochestra. He enjoyed drawing comic characters, oil painting, crossword puzzles and bowling. He also was an avid sports fan and closely followed the Celtics and the Bruins seasons.
Beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Correia). Father of Diane M. Salidas and her husband Peter of Wollaston and the late Joseph P. Haley. Brother of the late Charles W. Haley, Edythe Preis, Rita DiRienzo and Hilda McKay. Grandfather of Joseph Haley and his wife Arian of Rowley and Lynn Anne Kaveney and her husband Josh of Levittown, NY. Also survived by 4 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton on Friday, March 5 at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. MILTON on Thursday, 4-8PM. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Buddy’s memory may be made to the Tippett Home for Hospice, 920 South St., Needham, MA 02492 or to the Annunciation Cathedral (The Building Fund) 162 Goddard Ave., Brookline, MA 02445.

Diane and family, I am so sorry for your loss, especially a parent. I know you have been an inspiration even giving me suggestions on the naturepathic side for my parents that are dealing with health issues. I pray for our departed relatives everyday and of course that includes my “Uncle Buddy” who I knew only as a little child. But, his memory is eternal with me as well as all the descendants of Buddy & Helen. Though I myself am 78 I know Buddy will be praying for us as well.
