Jean M. (Stanton) Rooney, of Hyde Park, entered into heaven on Sunday, November 15, 2009, and was reunited with her late husband Eugene H. Rooney, Jr. Loving mother to Christopher M. and his wife Lee Rooney of Hyde Park, and Gregory T. and his wife Karla Rooney of West Roxbury. Devoted Grammy to Ashley, Hailey, Allison, and Jessica. Beloved daughter of Joseph and Mary Stanton of Hyde Park. Dear sister of Thomas Stanton and his wife Margaret of Sandwich, Lorraine Murphy and her husband Alfred of Needham, Elizabeth “Bettie” Kilcoyne and her husband David of Dedham, and William “Bill” and his partner Steven Myers of Boston. Jean leaves many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Wednesday, 6pm-8pm AND Thursday, 4pm to 8pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 20 at 10am at St. Pius X Church, 101 Wolcott Rd, Milton, MA. Interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Jean was a dedicated Reading Specialist and taught in the Boston Public Schools for 28 years. She was a proud graduate of Girls Latin School, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston State College, and her Master’s Degree from Bridgewater State College.
