John W. Balboni

John W. Balboni, 79, passed away at Sunrise Senior Center, in Braintree, Massachusetts, Friday November 29, 2013. He was born on August 2, 1934 in Hartford, Connecticut to John and Josephine (Pontacoloni) Balboni. John grew up in Glastonbury, CT. He graduated in 1953 from Glastonbury, High School where he was an active student council member and avid soccer player. After high school he attended University of Hartford Hillyer College where he continued playing soccer and graduated in 1957. John’s working career was dedicated to The Hartford Insurance Company where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1999. John married Joyce Goode of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts in 1964. They were happily married for 42 years until her passing in 2006. They lived in Glastonbury, CT where they raised their four children until The Hartford moved John to New York City to work at Thompson Mckinnon Securities Inc. The couple moved to Murray Hill, NJ until 1988 when John was transferred back to Hartford where they resided in West Hartford until John retired in 1999 and he and Joyce moved to their summer home on Martha’s Vineyard. Together they enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home, traveling, visiting with friends near and far, visiting with their children and being grandparents to their ten grandchildren.
John is survived by his four children Jessica and (Milton) Gonzalez of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Jon and (Brenda) Balboni,of Springfield, New Jersey; Jennifer and (Brian) Tracey of Dorchester, Massachusetts; Jason Balboni of Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Christine and Grace Gonzalez, John, Joseph, Amanda and Victoria Balboni, Alison, Sarah and Erin Tracey, Colby Balboni; his step-grandchildren Devin and Eva Balboni; his sister Joyce (Balboni) McDonald and nieces and nephews and other relatives. A visitation will be held at Dolan and Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Ave.,  MILTON VILLAGE from 12-2 pm Friday, December 6, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 22 Massasoit Ave., Oak Bluffs, MA at 9:00 am Saturday, December 7, 2013.
