Simão Rosa, born on March 20, 1933, a resident of Dorchester, MA passed away July 2nd 2015 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Simão Rosa was born and raised in Fogo Cabo Verde. He was born to the late Raul Rosa and Antonia Vasconcelos Rosa and was the beloved husband to Malvina Rosa for over 40 years.

Simão is survived by his beloved brothers Alirio Mendes Rosa, Guilherme Mendes Rosa, Jose Bolivar Mendes Rosa, and his sister Teresa Mendes Rosa, beloved children Maria Lina Rosa, Josefina Rosa Tavares, Manuel Rosa, Jose Rosa, Carlos Rosa, Arnaldo Lopes Rosa, Maria Jose Rosa, Afro Simão Rosa, Luis Rosa, Sandra Rosa, Raul Rosa, Adilson Rosa, Jorge Rosa, and Sandro Rosa. He is the beloved grandfather to 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by countless friends and family whom were blessed to know him.

He will be fondly remembered as the loving teacher “Senhor Simão” in his native country Cabo Verde. He taught for over 40 years and left a legacy as a great mentor who continued to impact the lives of all the students he touched.

Simão loved listening to traditional Cape Verdean music, playing the violin, playing cards, laughing, being with his family, having fun with his friends and teaching elementary school children back in his country. One of his favorite hobbies was walking to the corner store to buy scratch tickets.

Simão touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., LOWER MILLS,  Monday 5-8PM. Friends and family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 10AM at St. Patrick’s Church on 10 Magazine St, Roxbury MA 02119. The family invites all guests to please join them back at the church function in the basement area for refreshments after the interment.
