Sr. Theresa Merwin, mfic, (Theresa Joan Merwin) (Sr. Mary Theresa Joachim mfic), of Newton, January 17, 2015. Beloved daughter of the late Mary (Campbell) and Harry Merwin. Sister of the late Dorothy Smith, Harold Merwin and Sonny Merwin. Sr. Theresa is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, her Franciscan community and many friends in the US and Latin America. Sr. Theresa taught at Mount Alvernia High School in Newton, Saint Clare High School in Roslindale, was part of the Provincial Team and served in Peru and Bolivia for many years. Visiting hours at Mount Alvernia Academy Chapel, 20 Manet Road, Chestnut Hill, Tuesday January 20 from 4-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Chapel Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Sr. Theresa’s family and Franciscan community would like to acknowledge the wonderful caregivers at Newton Wellesley Hospital for their care and extraordinary kindness.
