James Raso

Raso_JameswebJames Raso, 76, of Dorchester passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 26, 2014.  Jim was born in Charlestown, MA and was the son of the late Anthony and Margaret Raso.

Jim was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High class of 1955.  After high school he worked at the Fish Pier in Boston where he met Anna (O’Connell) Raso.  They were married on April 15, 1961.  He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.  Upon his return, he attended college at Boston University at night while he worked fulltime during the day.  Jim worked at Honeywell, Computenics and Boston University.

Jim enjoyed socializing with his friends at the McKeon AMVETS Post in Dorchester, gardening, traveling and most of all spending time with his family.  He was an active member of the Saint Gregory’s Parish and a loyal contributor to the Disabled American Veterans Organization.

Jim is survived by his wife, Anna Raso of Dorchester, and his children James Raso of Haverhill, and Margaret Raso of Dorchester.  Jim also leaves behind his brothers Anthony Raso and his wife Ellen of Medford and Francis “Billy” Kelly and his wife Barbara of Charlestown.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gregory’s Church, DORCHESTER, Friday, Jan 31, at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS Thurs. 4 – 8 pm. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Contributions in Jim’s name may be sent to either the Disabled American Veterans, 24 Beacon St., Suite 546, State House, Boston, MA 02133 or to St. Gregory’s Parish, 2223 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester, MA 02124.
