Walter S. Schow
Walter S. Schow of Quincy, died April 16, at the age of 92. Born in Boston, he worked for 34 years as an electrician at the Boston Naval Shipyard retiring as an electrician general foreman. He continued his career with Amtrak working as an electrician for another 16 years. He was a Naval Veteran of W.W. II serving in the Aleutian Islands in the Pacific Theater. Walter was the Past Master of the Faith Lodge AF & AM, and a present member of the Charity Lodge AF & Am of Cambridge. Walter was the beloved husband of Ethel L. (Dow) Schow. Devoted father of Robert Schow and his wife Pamela of Mansfield, Janet R. Connell and her husband David of Framingham, Thomas D. Schow of Quincy, Peter W. Schow and his wife Laura Corral of CA and Steven P. Schow of NC. Loving grandfather of Eric Schow of Mansfield, Kristen Schow of Brighton, Jesse Connell and his wife Kristen, Melissa Schmidt and her husband Jon David all of Washington, DC, Daniel Connell of Brighton, Matthew Schow and his wife Christin ,Nathaniel Schow and Timothy Schow both of Quincy, Isabella Schow-Corral of CA, Mira Ritola Schow and Ila Ritola Schow both of NC. Great grandfather of Owen, Jackson, Zoe and Brayden. A Memorial Service will be held in the East Congregational Church, 610 Adams St., East Milton, Sat. April 20 at 11 o’clock. If desired contributions in Walter’s name may be sent to either the East Congregational Church or to Interfaith Social Services 105 Adams St., Quincy, MA 02169.

Wally, what a guy. He was the “new” old timer at the railroad. I use to bug him about retiring back in the nineties. But he was a stand up guy, no nonsense, straight shooter, what you see is what you got. He’d eagerly give you a hand whenever needed. Which is why I admired him. He was always good to talk with and would always say hello when ever we crossed paths. He had a good sense of humor and would always give me a zing when he could. I’m sorry for your loss, but I’ll always remember Old Wally. God Bless your family.

I am so sorry to learn your Dad Tom has passed. I know he wasn’t doing too well, BUT,, you never think your Dad is going to some day….you think they will live forever! In your hearts he WILL live…and he certainly would be proud of you men. If there is anything at all we can do, please let me know, Tom. I left you a voice message on your cell..
