Susan D. Gardner

Susan D. Gardner “Susie”, of Milton, died at her life-long family home Thursday July 5after a year-long battle with esophageal cancer at the age of 64. A native of Milton, she was born on July 9, 1947 to mother Anna Bruzzese Gardner of New Rochelle, NY and father W. Drew Gardner of Somerset, MA. Susan graduated from Milton High School in 1965 she then went on to get her undergraduate degree from UMass Boston with a major in psychology in 1969 and a Master of Arts in Education from Suffolk University in 1971.Susan retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked for over 20 years as a Human Resources Specialist. Susan spent most of her life in Milton and enjoyed traveling to Cape Cod often for summers.  She enjoyed spending time with friends and family as much as possible.  She is lovingly survived by her sister Joy Gardner Koopman of Canon City, CO, Two nephews: David D. Koopman of Braintree, MA and James M. Koopman of Braintree/Boston, MA. Great niece Emma G. Koopman and great nephew Jackson R. Koopman both of Hollis, NH.  Susan is also survived by several cousins in the New York and New Jersey area. Family and friends are welcome to come celebrate Susan’s life.  There will be a graveside memorial service and burial held at Milton Cemetery on Saturday, July 14, at 11:00am in the Copeland Garden. In lieu of flowers Memorial gifts may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 100 TradeCenter, G-500, Woburn, MA 01801. A special thanks to the VNS Hospice nurses and personal care aids for all their help and support.  We couldn’t have fulfilled Susie’s wishes without you.
