Eileen P. (Naughton) Gallagher
Eileen P. (Naughton) Gallagher, of Milton, formerly of Spiddal, Co. Galway, Ireland, passed away under the care of Old Colony Hospice at her son’s home in Weymouth on March 3, 2012.
Born in Spiddal , Co. Galway, Ireland, Mrs. Gallagher emigrated to the United States in February 1948. She and her late husband, Stephen, married on July 21, 1951. Mrs. Gallagher was a wonderful, devoted mother to her two sons and was an active participant in many fundraisers, athletic events and religious activities at Saint Agatha School in Milton and at Don Bosco High School-Salesian Brothers.
Mrs. Gallagher was a daily communicant at the 7:00AM Mass at Saint Agatha Church and enjoyed traveling to the United Kingdom and Ireland. She was a frequent attendee of Irish dances at Concannon’s in Norwood and events at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton.
Mrs. Gallagher took great pride in her yard and enjoyed gardening, tending to her flower beds and maintaining the green grass on her lawn.
Beloved wife of the late Stephen F. Gallagher, she was the loving mother of Stephen F. Gallagher, Jr. of East Sandwich and Patrick Gallagher of Weymouth. Devoted grandmother of Christopher Gallagher of East Sandwich. Sister of Julia “Judy” Mulkern, Michael Naughton and his wife Mary, Kathleen Walsh, Martin Naughton and his wife Barbara, Margaret “Peg” Conley and her husband Edward, and the late Mary Lydon, Bridget “Bridie” Connelly, and Peter, Nora and Barbara Naughton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church on Thursday, March 8 at 9:00AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. MILTON, Wednesday 1-3 and 6-8PM. Interment Milton Cemetery. Mrs. Gallagher will be greatly missed. She always welcomed me into her home with a big hug and kiss. She was willing to cook up an Irish breakfast at the drop of a hat. Which I greatly accepted..
My mother and I had the great fortune to provide Mrs. Gallagher Eucharist on Christmas Eve, along with my children.. Which we will never forget… Rest in peace.. Paul Francis, Carla, Alessandra and Domenico Murphy.
