Louis V. Sorgi
Louis V. Sorgi, died at Carney Hospital, Dorchester, Friday January 6, 2012. Born in Dorchester and raised in Milton, Mr. Sorgi was a graduate of Milton High School Class of 1941 and Boston College Class of 1945. He served in the US Navy during World War II, as a lieutenant junior grade, gunnery officer aboard the USS Rockwall. Mr. Sorgi worked for E.R. Squibb Pharmaceutical Company for 36 years, retiring as the regional center director. He was a member emeritus of the board of trustees for Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, president of the Boston Druggists Association, member of Wollaston Golf Club, member of the Saint Agatha Church Choir and member of the Milton American Legion Post 114. An extremely proud and active member of the Boston College Alumni Association, Mr. Sorgi served as president of the Class of 1945, member of the Alumni Board, board member for the Boston College Hall of Fame and was a founding incorporator and board member of the Boston College Club. In 2002 he received the McKenney Award. Beloved husband of Lillian V. (DeLeo) Sorgi. Loving father of Louis Vincent Sorgi Jr. and his spouse Anna Sorgi of Norwell, Virginia A. Sorgi and her spouse Cathy Schwabe of Oakland, CA, Joan M. Gendreau and her spouse Richard Gendreau of Longmeadow, Paul J. Sorgi and his spouse Christine Sorgi of Bolton and John J. Sorgi and his spouse Maja Sorgi of Norton. Louis is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandson and his sister Catherine Golden of Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Milton, Wednesday January 11 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, MILTON, Tuesday 4-8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery. Donations in Lou’s memory may be made to St. Agatha Church, 432 Adams St., Milton 02186 or Boston College Alumni Fund, 825 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02458.

We were so saddened by the news of Uncle Lou. I always thought of him as such a great guy.
We pulled out a bunch of old slides during Christmas at Linda’s place from Easter at Ma’s house in Dorchester. All lined up-The Sorgis, Shanahans and DeLeos-for the annual Easter Parade shot. It brought back some great memories.

I just heard about your loss of Uncle Lou. He was such a fun loving man and a wonderful Dad. I remember all the special holidays at Ma’s house in Dorchester with all the aunts and uncles and ALL the grandchildren. We had such wonderful times together..LOUD but wonderful!
