John R. Ghublikian
John R. Ghublikian, formerly of New Seabury, Weymouth and Boston, died at Atria at Marina Place, after a long illness, Friday March 18, 2011. A chemical engineer and professor, John was born in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School in 1935 and Tufts University in 1939. He began his career with the E. B. Badger Company in Cambridge as a chemical engineer. He served the company for several years in Europe and returned to serve as president from 1975 to 1983. Upon his retirement, he became a professor at Tufts University teaching chemical plant management. He was a member of the board at Wentworth Institute and served as chairman of the board from 1985 to 1992. Upon his retirement from the board at Wentworth, he was granted an Honorary Doctorate. He held several patents in the petro-chemical industry. Mr. Ghublikian summered for several years in New Seabury and upon retirement took up permanent residence there. He was an avid tennis player and golfer. John was the beloved husband of the late Leona (Laskowski) Ghublikian. Father of Jack Ghublikian and his wife Maureen of Dorchester and Ann Ghublikian and her partner Margaret Sutherland of Richmond, Mass. He was grandfather of Anna, John and Jane Ghublikian. Brother of the late Arthrena Stenberg. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home 460 Granite Avenue, MILTON, Tuesday 4-7 PM. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name may be sent to Wentworth Institute of Technology, 550 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115.
