Joseph W. Leahy
Joseph W. Leahy, a retired analyst, died Monday February 21, 2011 after a long illness. He was 94 ish.
Born and raised in South Boston, he was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Boys. Mr. Leahy retired in 1978 as a compensation analyst for the United States Department of Defense. As a young man he was a ship electrician at the Charlestown Navy Shipyard. Later he was a planner/estimator at the Fore River Shipyard and a contract administrator for the Department of Defense.
A longtime resident of Milton, he has been a winter resident of Florida, St. Pete Beach, since the mid 1980’s. An avid reader, he also enjoyed travelling.
Beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Stanley) Leahy. Loving father of Joseph W. Leahy Jr. and his wife Jeannette of Nashville, TN and Fort Myers, FL, James E. Leahy and his wife Dianne of Fredericksburg, VA and Christopher A. Leahy of Milton. Joe is survived by four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren and brother of the late Margaret Leahy, Edward Leahy, John Leahy, Nancy Field and Mary Leahy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, Milton, Friday February 25 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, MILTON, Thursday 4-8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation/Massachusetts Affiliate, 89 South Street Suite 406, Boston, MA 02111.

We had a lot of great golf excursions over the years. Joe’s quick wit and humor will be missed. Just one of the really good guys.
